Rose's go-to eyebrow pencil: Za Brow Liner

Hello there, lovelies!

For today’s post, I’m going to be gushing about my favourite-stestest eyebrow pencil in the whole wide world, the Za brow liner!

Image obtained from Za Cosmestics

For some context, I grew up with no-brows. By no-brows, I really mean no eyebrows. Non-existent. You can’t see them at all. Case in point, see below.

Y’know… some girls were born naturally beautiful, with thick hairy caterpillars for brows. Kiki, for example. Doesn’t wear makeup, because she doesn’t like it, but also because she has full brows even without drawing them on. For me, personally, I can’t survive without makeup, especially eyebrows, because I look like an au naturel troll.

I blame my genetics for that.

“You’re being dramatic! There’s some hair there?”

…Where?

I don’t see anything. Swiper took my brows away, leaving Dora the Explorer trying to find them to no avail. So, since the age of eighteen, I’ve been drawing my brows pretty consistently almost every single day. I turn twenty-four this year, which makes it six glorious years of constant eyebrow drawing.

I’ve had bad eyebrow days – trust me. Some days were too thick, some days were too dark, some days were too long. But throughout those days, Za was always right there beside me.

Everybody has a Yanxi Palace phase where they drew their eyebrows too thin and too straight, amiright? And yes, both brows in the above two pictures were done with Za.

My eyebrows have been really unkempt recently, because I’ve been way too lazy to properly shape them. But hey, when you don’t have any brows in the first place, shape what shape? Nobody’s gonna notice the stray hairs anyway, amiright?

Case in point, I didn’t pluck them here, but who even realises. This is probably my standard, go-to brow shape nowadays. Straight, thick and fat, and a bit uneven, but it’s okay because eyebrows are not meant to be identical. Just similar.

The difference in the before and after is stark.

…And it’s all thanks to the Za Brow Liner Pencil.

There’s this really hot K-Drama recently – True Beauty, was it? Yeah, my before and after is similar to hers.

But about the brow liner – the first thing that I absolutely love about this brow pencil is how cheap it is (as compared to others in the market). I’ve tried high-end brow pencils, I’ve tried low-end brow pencils, but nothing comes close to the quality that I get from Za. It’s a price steal at *drumroll* S$12.90. And I usually get them from Watsons or Guardian, where they always have buy two get one at half price… so when the offer comes on, I stock my eyebrow pencils. I’ll buy 5 or 6 at one go and keep them for the future.

I usually finish one eyebrow pencil in a month or so, because that is how much I draw my brows.

The lines I get from Za is clean – unlike other brow pencils that I’ve tried. I’ve tried Etude House, Innisfree (which I know many people like), Benefit amongst others, but the shape of the pencil itself is a tad bit too unwieldly for me. Because they come in a weird triangular shape that’s supposed to help you, but it makes my brows look weird after.

Some eyebrow pencils – for some reason – are oily as well. When I use other brands, for some reason, layering on the shade make it really dark in some areas and light in others. And even when I spoolie the dark areas out, it comes off in weird, patchy blobs that make it ugly. Za has never given me such issues, and the spoolie they have is stiff in the best way possible, brushing out the marks to give it that faded centre.

So, yes, I love the Za brow liner to death. The day they stop making it will be the day I become very sad.

Psst, this is usually how I shape my brows. The first inner line is corner of mouth to side of nose to inner corner of eye. Outside would be corner of mouth to outer corner of eye. Arch would be corner of mouth to side of eye pupil.

But given how I’ve been drawing my brows so straight recently… Who needs an arch anyways.

And that’s how I usually draw my eyebrows. I usually outline the entire thing first, then fill in from the ends dark and move toward the centre where I lighten the strokes.

And that concludes the end of my gushing about the Za brow liner. Please go try it, those of you who are looking for a good, cheap, starter, easy-to-use eyebrow pencil. I’ll give it a solid 5 out of 5. Nothing much can change my mind about how good the Za brow liner is. I love it to death.

Till next time, lovelies!
