Hello lovelies! We’re back to introduce to you a café in Bedok – the Mosanco Enchanted café!
The first Enchanted Cafe at Rangoon Road opened its doors in 2017 and was popular amongst cafe hoppers due to their Instagram worthy fairytale-garden theme decor. Fast forward to 2021, and here we are, at its third branch, in Bedok. The café is hidden at a corner of the block – if you’re not living in the estate, it will be pretty hard to find the café, because it’s tucked away so well.
When I first stepped into the café, I was intrigued by the interior décor. The Bedok branch follows the Tree House theme - light wood wallpaper and white brick wallpaper. We were then greeted by the staff and did the safe entry check in before we were brought to our seats.
We had to scan the QR code for the menu – as per COVID-19 norm. My friend and I decided to order a Linguine w Bacon x Mushroom, Bonito & Smoked Salmon Toast and a Bandung Latte so that we could share.
The waitress first served us the Bandung Latte. I took a sip and it just like rose syrup and coffee. Nothing too special about it, but nothing much to complain about either. They tried hard on the latte design, so props to them for that!
We were then served the Bonito & Smoked Salmon Toast. The description reads: Toasted Sourdough with Homemade Garlic Spread, Torched Mayo, topped with Bonito flakes and Smoked Salmon, served with Mixed Salad. The sourdough honestly didn’t feel toasted to me. As an avid fan of garlic, I couldn’t taste the garlic at all. To be honest with you though, Bonito and Smoked Salmon is a pretty weird combination. Just because they’re both fish-based doesn’t mean that they’ll go well together, I suppose? I don’t know how to describe it as well – the feeling of eating it was kinda weird.
Next up is the Linguine with sliced Turkey Bacon, Mushroom and Garlic in Cream Sauce, baked with Mozzarella Cheese. I tossed the linguine and mixed it around so the cheese would coat every strand of the pasta, took my first bite with great anticipation – and felt mildly let down. It was tasteless. And over time, the dish became more and more jelak due to the overwhelming cream sauce and cheese.
Overall, the café has a cosy and comfortable environment for chilling out in the hot weather or having friends gathering. Would I visit the café again? Probably not. Because I have my go-to café in Bedok (ahem… Refuel café… ahem).
And this is Rose, hopping into the review for thirty seconds of your time:
I feel like the allure of Mosanco is that they open all the way till 2am on Friday and Saturday. The last time I went with my friends around 11pm or so, we had a blast, because the Café was empty, and we live around the area, so why not? The desserts were pretty good, and our drinks (we ordered tea, because we wanted to act atas) were awesome as well. I’d say give the café a try – their desserts were good!
Of course, as compared to Refuel, their standard fare needs some more work, but… Pretty good in their own right, I would say!
Rose out.
And that concludes our review on Mosanco! Till next time, lovelies!
